Relationship Breakdowns and
Relationship Breakups
Getting over a break up - Getting over an ex
If you are the one who needs to get over a bad break up, here are
some advices that would help you get over your past relationship.
1. Seek solace with your friends
This is a great way to leave the bad break up for a moment and have
fun. Who knows, you might even meet mister or miss right at your break
up bash. But if you are not the type of person who is up for partying,
why not try going on some place far to unwind and have a vacation.
2. Don’t confine yourself in your own room and feel miserable
about the break up.
It is his or her loss not yours. Remember that every time a break up
happens you are a step closer in finding the right one.
3. Get rid of everything that reminds you of him/her
To completely get over your ex who broke your heart, throw out all
the things that he gave you. Take the teddy bears, pillows, clothes, and
other stuff that he or she gave you. Instead of dumping it, you might
give it to the charity and make someone else happy. Purposely DON'T
listen to songs that remind you of them.
4. Don't make contact with your ex
It's best not to communicate with your ex for quite some time so that
you can heal and get over them. Even if they want to be friends with
you, or you agreed to be friends, you need distance so that you can mend
your broken heart and move on. If they try and contact you, just explain
to them that you are moving on and you need some space. You will contact
them when you feel you are ready. (Give yourself at least five months,
or until you are seeing someone else).
5. Go and get a new haircut
Remember the feeling you get when you come out of a hair salon with a
great new style or colour? You immediately feel more confident and
attractive! (Yes even men).
6. Go and get a massage
Take out the tension in your muscles and get a massage for your body
and feet.
7. Go on a holiday
Get away from your familiar surroundings and explore somewhere you've
never been to before! Go on a tour and meet some new people!
8. Take up a new hobby
Take up a new interest, and get busy with your time, meet new people
and enjoy yourself! Things you could do are learn to dance (eg. salsa),
play a sport - eg. tennis, badminton, become a member at the gym!
9. Don't binge on food or alcohol or promiscuous behaviour
Because you will definitely regret it.
10. Give yourself time to heal
Breaking up is difficult for everyone. Don't be hard on yourself,
give yourself plenty of time to heal. In life, inevitably some
relationships won't work, but allow yourself to believe and trust that
there will be better opportunities in the future. |
